Itinerary
TASHKENT- KHIVA-BUKHARA – AYDARKUL-SENTYAB-SAMARKAND- SHAKHRISABZ-TERSAK-TASHKENT
Day 1
Tashkent
Arrival in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. A short city tour:
- Khast Imam Square, home to the original 7th-century Quran manuscript
- Chorsu bazar
- Independence Square
- Amir Timur Square
Dinner.
Overnight in Tashkent.
Day 2
Tashkent – Urgench – Khiva
Breakfast. Morning flight to Urgench at 8:00 AM. Transfer and check-in at the hotel.
City tour of Itchan-Kala, the inner fortress of Khiva, offering a glimpse into what a 19th-century Central Asian city looked like.
Dinner.
Overnight in Khiva.
Day 3
Khiva – Bukhara (480 km, 7h)
Breakfast. Departure for Bukhara, a city with over 2,500 years of history.
Lunch on the way.
Arrival in the evening. Check-in at the hotel.
Dinner.
Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 4
Bukhara
Bukhara
Breakfast.
City tour of Bukhara’s main attractions:
- Medieval trading domes from the 16th century
- Kalon Mosque and Minaret, the tallest in Bukhara
- Mir Arab Madrasah (16th century), still in operation today
Lunch.
- Ulugh Beg and Abdulaziz Khan Madrasahs
- The Ark Fortress, former residence of the Uzbek rulers
- Zindan, the ancient prison
Dinner.
Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 5
Bukhara
Breakfast.
Continuation of the city tour:
- Ismail Samani Mausoleum, the oldest building in Bukhara (10th century)
- Chashma Ayub Mausoleum, associated with the Prophet Job
- Bolo-Khauz Mosque
Lunch.
- Sitorai Mokhi Khosa, the last palace of the Uzbek monarchy
- Bakhauddin Naqshband Mausoleum, an important Sufi pilgrimage site
Dinner.
Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 6
Bukhara – Nurata – Aydarkul
Breakfast. Departure for Aydarkul to experience a desert safari camping.
On the way, visit Nurata, a historic town with sacred sites.
Arrival at the yurt camp in the desert. Activities include:
- Camel ride through the dunes
- Visit to Aydarkul Lake, a stunning oasis in the steppe
- Return to the yurt camp
Dinner, followed by a Kazakh folklore evening with traditional songs around the campfire.
Overnight in yurts.
Day 7
Aydarkul – Sentyab
Breakfast. Departure for Sentyab, a traditional mountain village known for its authentic rural life.
Lunch upon arrival, followed by a village excursion:
- Discover local traditions and daily life of the villagers
- Walk through the picturesque landscapes of the Nuratau mountains
Dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse, offering a true immersive experience with the locals.
Day 8
Sentyab – Samarkand
Breakfast. Departure for Samarkand, one of the most legendary cities on the Silk Road.
Arrival and check-in at a guesthouse.
Lunch, followed by a city tour to explore its millennia-old heritage:
- Ulugh Beg Observatory, the first astronomical observatory in Central Asia
- Shakhi Zinda Complex, a stunning necropolis housing the tomb of Prophet Muhammad’s cousin
- Mausoleum of Saint Daniel, revered by followers of three major religions
Dinner and overnight stay in Samarkand.
Day 9
Samarkand
Breakfast. Full-day sightseeing tour of Samarkand:
- Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum – the dynastic tomb of the Timurid rulers (15th century)
- Registan Square – the historic heart of the city, surrounded by its three majestic madrasahs
- Bibi-Khanym Madrasah – built in honor of Timur’s beloved wife, Saray Mulk
Dinner and overnight in Samarkand.
Day 10
Samarkand – Shakhrisabz – Tersak
Breakfast. Departure for Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of Tamerlane. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and sightseeing tour of this 2,700-year-old city:
- Ak-Saray Palace – Timur’s summer residence, once the grandest in Central Asia
- Dor-us Saodat Complex – includes the crypt Timur built for himself
- Dorut Tilavat Complex – houses the mausoleums of Timur’s father and spiritual mentor
Lunch. Departure to Tersak, a picturesque mountain village. Overnight stay at a local French professor’s house for an immersive experience.
Day 11
Tersak – Samarkand – Tashkent
Breakfast. Return to Samarkand, followed by lunch in the city.
Departure for Tashkent by car or on the Afrosiab high-speed train. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel.
Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.
Day 12
Tashkent – Departure
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and flight home.
